Founded in January 1975 and accredited by the American Kennel Club in June 1978, the Kalamazoo Dog Training Club (KDTC) has grown from fewer than 12 members to more than 50.
A not for profit organization, KDTC continues to meet its purposes by conducting dog training classes that include dog tricks, AKC and UKC competitive obedience, nosework, puppy, beginning classes, Canine Good Citizen, and rally; educating and encouraging the public to practice responsible dog ownership; and promoting cooperation and good sportsmanship among member in the training and exhibiting of dogs.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (board meeting at 6pm, general member meeting at 7:30pm) except in April, September and December at the Michigan Dog Center, 6740 Quality Way, Portage, MI. Members of the public who support the purposes and aims of KDTC are welcome to attend.
In December, we hold a Christmas party. In September we have a picnic at Michigan Dog Center with dog games and lots of great potluck food. In April we hold an Awards banquet.
