Our Pet Training Class Description & Information

Our Objectives

These classes are designed to assist handlers in learning how to teach their dogs to be well-behaved pets and friends. We're committed to giving you and your dog the knowledge you need to build a strong and enduring bond.

Puppy Training - Age 10 Weeks to 6 Months

These classes are suitable for pups aged 10 weeks to 6 months. Puppies learn to sit, lie down, walk on a leash, and other skills. Instructional lectures are included in this training class.

Class size: 10

Beginning – Age 7 Months and Older

This class is for dogs aged 6 months and up. This session is intended to teach you how to educate your dog in basic obedience skills such as sit, down, come, stay, walk on a loose leash, and so on, and review and enhance what they already know. Socializing your dog in a classroom setting is an extra bonus.

Beginning Nosework

This training class will help you understand your dog as they search for scents such as birch and anise, which are used in AKC, UKC, and other organizations. Your dog needs to have taken a beginning class or have permission from a training director. Please bring a crate, water, and various treats.

CGC/A-For Dogs Who Completed Beginning Class

This class is for dogs who have successfully completed the beginning class. It focuses on enjoyment and incentive, communication and strengthening basic abilities, and testing the dog's skills in a natural setting. Dogs who pass the test are eligible for the AKC's "CGC” or “CGCA” titles. To receive the CGC and/or CGCA title, the dog must.

1. Be registered or listed with AKC (AKC number, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners number) and

2. Complete the Canine Good Citizen award/title procedure OR

3. Already hold a Canine Good Citizen award/title.

This class is for both CGC and CGCA participants.

Additional Classes

Beyond Beginning

We will expand on the beginning curriculum and introduce new dog behaviors through games and play, as well as traditional training methods. Learn to communicate more clearly and have a better relationship with your dog.

Continuing Nosework

Beginning Nosework with is a prerequisite for this class. It will expand on the ideas and skills of handler and dog. No two dogs or classes will be the same! The relationship with your dog will be enhanced by your words, engagement, body language, and equipment. Please bring a crate, water, and various treats.

Learn More

Tricks

This class will help you teach your dog a variety of tricks based on the list from the American Kennel Club (AKC). This is a great opportunity to connect with your dog and have fun doing it. There are different levels—the class will concentrate on the beginning level and move to more challenging levels, depending on individual skills and pace of learning.

Class Limit: 8

Socialized Pet Obedience Test (SPOT)

This training class is for dogs that have completed a beginner class successfully. This session focuses on having fun and communicating with the dog, as well as improving fundamental obedience skills and learning and polishing the abilities required to pass the UKC Socialized Pet Obedience Test (SPOT). Dogs will be evaluated for the SPOT exam at the end of this class by a UKC-accredited evaluator.

Backyard Agility - Age > 1 Year

This training session is not for dogs under the age of one year, and all dogs must have successfully completed a Beginning Obedience class. Teams practice agility in their own backyard. Teach your dog new entertaining abilities and be creative with making your own equipment out of household items. It's all good fun!

Competitive Games

A class that teaches, tests, promotes drive, and ensures pleasurable training for both you and your canine partner. Learn games based on all of the OB exercises, including stand stays and group stays. For all skill levels.

Rally

This is a newer obedience activity in which the dog and handler navigate a series of stations (signs) in numbered sequence. Each symbol denotes a distinct behavioral talent. This program will educate you and your dog on how to traverse a course effectively. Rally is divided into three levels (novice, advanced, and excellent), and students from various levels may be placed in the same class. Several registries sponsor rally competitions.

Competitive Obedience Classes

These lessons are intended to teach the handler and dog the abilities required to compete in obedience shows.
